Texas Families of Blind Children Gather in Corpus Christi for Networking and Fun

Did you ever wonder how children and their families adjust to blindness? Join DARS Division for Blind Services August 4-6 at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach in Corpus Christi to learn more. The Third Annual Foundation for Life Conference is for participants in the DARS Blind Children Vocational Development and Discovery Program (BCVDDP) and their parents and siblings.

If your child is blind or visually impaired, the BCVDDP may be able to help you, your child, and your entire family. Every year hundreds of Texas families turn to the Children's Program for information and support to help their children grow and thrive.

The Blind Children's Vocational Discovery and Development Program can:

  • Help a child develop the confidence and competence needed to be an active part of their community.
  • Provide support and training to parents in understanding rights and responsibilities throughout the educational process.
  • Assist families in the vocational discovery and development process.
  • Provide training in areas like food preparation, money management, recreational activities and grooming.
