Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP)
A voucher program that provides financial assistance for the purchase of specialized assistive equipment or services for individuals whose disability interferes with their ability to access the telephone network.
Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) is in the process of a DARS rule review which includes reviewing rules related to the Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP). This process will include a public meeting, open to all stakeholders, to voice their input regarding the STAP rules.
Due to the rule review process, the Request for Information (RFI) in which response are used to determine voucher categories and values for FY 2013 will be delayed until the rule review process is completed. The rule review process is scheduled to be completed early in 2013.
